Main Objective of the study
- Understand the concepts, objectives, nature and function of Primary Education.
- Understand the various challenges related to imparting quality education in primary stage.
- Acquire the knowledge of management of Lecture in Primary Schools.
- Understand the factors such as institutional planning, school records , supervision, school complex which help in total quality management in primary schools.
- Develop various skills to plan for teaching.
- Understand the organization and management of various school programmes.
- The meaning and features of good curriculum and its designing for primary education.
- Understand the importance of student’s discipline and classroom management in enhancing the efficiency of the school.
- Understand the problems and issues related to the professional growth of the primary teachers.
- Develop the abilities of classroom , institutional resources and time management.
- Acquire the competencies of content mastery , curriculum transaction, communication skills and learner evaluation and the integration of these specific components.
Eligibility for admission
- A citizen of India who has passed the second year Pre-University examination obtaining 50% of marks in Pre-University of equivalent examination. Students with commerce combinations are eligible provided they have studied any two school subjects.
- He/She has studied atleast any one of the following languages : Kannada , English ,Tamil
- Minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility in case of SC/ST category –1 and physically handicapped student shall be 45% in aggregate of the pre-university examination.
- Duration of the course, scheme of examination and medium of instruction.
- The duration of study of D.Ed. Course is Two years.
- Minimum duration of practice teaching shall be of 40 days which excludes programmes like Micro Teaching, simulated teaching and practice of communication skills.
- The college shall provide instructions in both Kannada and English medium separately provided the total strength of students in such class is more than 40. However English or Kannada shall be generally the medium of instruction for content-cum-method of teaching school subjects.
- Students-Teachers shall opt their English or Kannada medium to write their I year and II year Examinations irrespective of their medium selected for theory classes and teaching practice.
- Students-Teachers shall opt their English or Kannada medium for teaching practice irrespective of their medium of instruction opted for theory papers in their colleges.
